Hot, sexy, dazzling and celebrity-inspired are few of the adjectives for the designs Richie Rich unleashes during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Lincoln Center, New York. His show was equally creative and elegant. He opened and closed with male and female ballerinas dancing, playing violin and jamming on a turntable...ROLAND HYDELike Andy Warhol, Richie Rich has had a major effect on pop culture in America. Richie Rich rose to fame in the world of fashion when he launched Heatherette in 1999. Richie and Heatherette soon gained success in the Bryant Park tents and a celebrity cult following. Rapper Foxy Brown asked Richie to design a custom outfit for the MTV Video Music Awards. Gwen Stefani was featured wearing one of his tops in Entertainment Weekly. Richie toured with Aerosmith creating nightly wardrobe magic. Patricia Field even asked Richie to create one of his “Name” shirts for Sarah Jessica Parker’s character on Sex and the City. The now infamous Heatherette “Carrie” t-shirt was featured worldwide in HBO’s massive Sex and the City ad campaign. Richie has created sequined and studded mini dresses for many a celebutante; neon, tattered tees for Pink and Justin Timberlake; and one-of-a-kind looks for David Beckham, Alicia Keys, and Britney Spears.
This fall, Richie will release an all new women’s apparel line, Popluxe by Richie Rich. This solo venture will feature exciting new designs by Richie, keeping audiences entertained with his unique mix of tongue in cheek glamour and outrageous fun.
